The flowers are brownish-purple with yellow inside, fragrant, and appear in large, lax, terminal panicles, while the fruit is a long, cylindrical capsule containing numerous winged seeds. Native to the Indian subcontinent and Southeast Asia, including India, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, and southern China, the tree thrives in moist deciduous forests.
