The leaves are pinnate, with 9 to 23 egg-shaped to elliptical leaflets. The tree produces small, white or yellowish flowers in panicles, and its fruit is a spherical red, brown, or black follicle.

Habitat

Native to tropical Asia, extending from India to the Philippines and south to northern Australia, Zanthoxylum rhetsa thrives in rainforests and coastal thickets from sea level to an altitude of 200 meters.
