Knema attenuata, commonly known as the Wild Nutmeg, is a tree native to the southwestern parts of India, particularly the Western Ghats. It typically grows up to 20 meters in height and is found in evergreen forests up to an elevation of 1400 meters.
Wild Nutmeg produces small flowers that are either male or female. The male flowers grow in small clusters, while the female flowers are usually found alone or in groups of up to three. The fruit of the tree is an oval-shaped capsule, about the size of a small plum, covered in a tawny, fuzzy texture. Inside the fruit is a single seed wrapped in a bright red covering.

Habitat

Knema attenuata is native to the southwestern parts of India, particularly the Western Ghats, and is found in evergreen forests up to an elevation of 1400 meters.
